Apple's iOS 18 Beta 3 just arrived! We now have a new wave of refinements and exciting new features for iPhone users. Here are some of the main changes worth calling out.

Personalization Updates

Apple continues to focus on enhanced personalization, starting with the Dynamic Island for iPhone 14 Pro users. Beta 3 refines the flashlight interface within the Dynamic Island, offering a revamped UI with clearer graphics for adjusting light intensity and beam width.

Continuing with personalization, Apple is introducing automatic dark mode tweaks for app icons. Beta 3 utilizes machine learning to intelligently convert app icons to a dark mode aesthetic, ensuring a more seamless user experience.

Adding more customizations, you can add a little life into your home screen with dynamic wallpapers. This new feature allows wallpapers to subtly change colors throughout the day, adding a touch of personality.

Photo and Messaging Changes

The Photos app is getting a little revamp and usability boost. The "Select" button has relocated to the top for easier access, while the search icon adopts a new blue hue for better visibility. Additionally, rounded edges on photos are replaced with a cleaner, edge-to-edge look.

Messaging is getting an updated emoji picker interface. The search field is transitioning into a more rounded design, and emojis are larger and more spaced out for effortless navigation. Mimoji integration within the picker streamlines the process of incorporating your personalized avatars.

RCS Messaging is coming! The groundwork for RCS messaging, a feature enabling richer messaging experiences, appears to be expanding. While functionality remains unclear outside the US, some Canadian users are now seeing the RCS toggle within settings, hinting at a potential future rollout.

Security and Optimizations

The Control Center settings gain an instructional graphic, providing users with a visual guide on how to navigate settings, enhancing user-friendliness. Not everyone knows how to update, change, customize device settings, so having a guide is beneficial to the larger group of users.

The Podcasts app is also getting some additional user experience changes. The app is getting a fresh intro screen highlighting its new features, making it easier for users to discover the app's latest functionalities.
